Real-time visualisation for CMM quality data in production

i-Sense: Quality inspection without installation, but with real-time visualisation of CMM data

i-Sense is a plug-and-play application for the real-time visualisation of CMM data that works without software installation. Immediately after completing a measurement, it captures and synchronizes 3D data from coordinate measuring machines. iNDEQS i-Sense visualises measurement data from coordinate measuring machines in real time and provides quality statistics, SPC control charts and process deviations immediately after measurement. This enables SPC for CMMs to identify process deviations at an early stage, reduce scrap, and make informed decisions directly on the production floor.

Users receive continuous real-time visualisation of the ongoing measurement or inspection, allowing them to monitor and validate results immediately. Thanks to the clear user interface, operators can quickly identify problems, respond immediately, or forward instant reports to production or the responsible quality manager. The inspection results can be reviewed within the software and uploaded directly to the database.

The application registers whether measurement data has been saved or not and displays a corresponding message. If necessary, repeat measurements can be initiated without delay. i-Sense also supports the documentation of events, causes, and corrective actions.

The software provides interfaces for numerous CMM systems to ensure real-time visualisation for every process. Users can switch between different display modes, including special screens for raw data and summarized measurements.

Intuitive UI and data collection

i-Sense offers an intuitive user interface for operators, optimised for easy real-time visualisation. The inspection environment is tailored to manufacturing personnel and can be used without prior training. Within the monitoring view, deviations are immediately highlighted in color so that errors can be identified at a glance.

The application includes clear graphics such as value charts, box plots, quality control charts, and Cp/Cpk summary graphics, enabling faster and more effective response to quality deviations. This enables comprehensive data analysis for coordinate measuring machines.

In addition, interfaces for devices from various manufacturers, including 3D coordinate measuring machines and optical measuring devices, can be easily connected via plug-in integration. The captured information can either be exported as files (DFQ or JSON) or written directly to a central database. Data streams from up to three coordinate measuring machines can be processed simultaneously. Real-time visualisation is also possible with i-Board.

Why is real-time visualisation of data from coordinate measuring machines useful?

Real-time visualisation of CMM data immediately highlights measurement deviations, data that have not been stored and quality issues, enabling those responsible to respond straight away. It also facilitates rapid analysis using graphical representations such as trend lines and box plots.

CMM data is particularly important for quality assurance because it directly shows whether parts are within the tolerance. Real-time analysis uses individual measurement values to create a comprehensive picture of the entire process, enabling trends, outliers and systematic errors to be identified at an earlier stage.
